HOW FLIP-FLOPS AFFECT YOUR FEETJuly 19, 2012 at 7:00 PM
In a recent article from CNN by Marina Csomor, "According to the National Foot Health Assessment 2012 released in June, 78% of adults 21 and older have experienced one or more foot problems in their lives." A common choice for most people during the hot months of summer are flip-flops and if you've ever worn them you know that flip-flops don't offer much support if any to your feet. The common pressure points are the balls of your feet and the heel, without support you are doing damage to these spots as well as your arch. Flip-flops also do not adhere around the foot like typical shoes, usually a single strap is all that keeps the flip-flop connected to your feet which often means you're curing your toes between each step to keep them on which isn't natural. Beyond just support problems, flip-flops also tend to cause blisters due to the unnatural movement the rubber makes across your skin, and blisters can lead to infections as you continue to walk with exposed skin.
